Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism is scheduled for registered St. Thomas More families after attending a required Pre-Baptism Class.  Pre-Baptism classes are held monthly on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM at the church.  Baptisms will be celebrated on the second weekend of each month during a weekend Liturgy.  Please contact Mary in the parish office to make arrangements for Baptisms.  Email: coralstmre@diodav.org    Phone:  319-337-4231

1st Eucharist

Registered Parish Families of 2nd graders seeking to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist need to be enrolled in St. Thomas More Religious Education Classes or Regina Elementary Education Center.  Please contact Mr. Shannon Duffy, Director of Religious Education in the Religious Education Office for further information.  Email:  coralstmdre@diodav.org  Phone:  319-337-2173

Guidelines for First Reconciliation and First Communion include:

  • Family is registered as St. Thomas More parishioners.
  • Child's baptismal certificate must be provided. If the child was baptized at St. Thomas More, we have their record. Otherwise, parents need to contact the parish where their child was baptized.
  • Child must be receiving religious education either through being a student at Regina Elementary or by attending St. Thomas More religious education classes, or Tri-Parish religious education classes.

Saturday from 4:30 to 5:00 PM or by appointment.

 

Confirmation

High School students (grades 9-12) whose families are registered members of St. Thomas More are eligible to sign up for preparation classes for the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Please contact Angie Goodwin, Director of Youth Ministry, for more information.  Email:  coralstmym@diodav.org    Phone: 319-337-2173.

 

RCIA-Becoming Catholic

RCIA is a process of prayer and study for people who are seeking to learn more about Christianity and the Catholic Church: the unbaptized, those baptized in other Christian denominations, and unconfirmed Catholics. The process is also great for anyone who has been away from the Church for a time or who just wants to learn current Church teachings.

Sessions begin in late October and continue through April and are held on Sunday mornings between Masses (9:45-10:45 A.M.).

RCIA-Older Children Becoming Catholic

A process of prayer and study for older children (grades 4 and up) who may/may not be baptized and have not yet received First Eucharist or First Reconciliation.  Please contact Mr. Shannon Duffy, Director of Religious Education for more information. Adult Sacramental Prep

Weddings

Couples must be active, registered St. Thomas More parishioners for at least ninety days prior to the nine months that are needed for preparations for the Sacrament of Marriage.  Please contact Fr. Anointing of the Sick

Please call the Parish Office at 337-2173 whenever someone is ill or for Communion at home.  Home communion calls are scheduled for Fridays.
