Art & Environment Committee

St. Thomas More Parish

The Art & Environment Committee at St. Thomas More Parish prayerfully enhances our worship space so that it reflects the beauty, meaning, and rhythm of the liturgical seasons. Through color, texture, symbols, and sacred art, this committee helps create an environment that draws hearts and minds more deeply into prayer.

What We Do

  • Design and prepare seasonal environments for Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Ordinary Time
  • Coordinate altar décor, banners, fabrics, florals, and symbolic elements
  • Ensure the worship space reflects the Church’s liturgical calendar and norms
  • Work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and liturgical ministries
  • Care for and refresh parish art and environmental pieces

Why It Matters

Our surroundings help tell the story of our faith. Thoughtfully prepared spaces invite reverence, inspire reflection, and help the entire parish encounter God through beauty—one of the Church’s oldest paths to prayer.

Who Can Join

You don’t need to be an artist—just someone with a love for beauty, creativity, organization, or behind-the-scenes service. Whether you enjoy design, crafting, planning, or helping with setup and takedown, there’s a place for you.

Time Commitment

The committee meets seasonally, with additional hands needed around major liturgical celebrations. Participation is flexible and respectful of family and work schedules.

Get Involved

If you feel called to help make our worship space a prayerful and welcoming place for all, we would love to have you join us.
