Advocate Letters To Fight World Hunger

In the spirit of the Easter season let us remember to continue to advocate for those less fortunate.  Please join the STM Social Justice Commission after all masses the weekend of April 14/15 in the upstairs Multipurpose Room.  We will be writing letters advocating for federal programs that reduce hunger and poverty at home and abroad.  STM is partnering with Bread for the World (www.bread.org/), a Christian advocacy group that helps to promote these vitally important programs.  Materials, sample letters, and assistance will be provided to write handwritten or electronic letters to our elected officials.  Of key focus will be proposed major cuts in the upcoming 2019 federal budget to domestic and foreign hunger assistance programs including the renewal of the 2014 Farm Bill Act (including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Stamps)) and the Global Food Security Act (poverty focused development assistance program).  Handwritten letters will be hand delivered to our elected officials in Washington D.C in June by our local Bread for the World representative .  Please join us !!
