Update from Social Justice Commission

Your Social Justice Commission would like to express their ever-lasting gratitude to the parishioners of STM for your gifts to our Afghani brothers and sisters in Cedar Rapids!  We made 16 trips to the Catherine McCauley Center with home goods, furniture, beds, and bicycles!  The last 20 of 220 people have been assigned housing and are awaiting their move date. They are eternally grateful for our care and hope to visit STM at some point!  The Social Justice Commission will transition now to helping the Shelter House in Iowa City:

Shelter House has become very short-handed on many items in our facility. These items can be shipped or dropped off to 429 Southgate Avenue, Iowa City 52240 or left at STM in the Blanket Them With Love collection. Urgent needs:

Emergency Shelter:

  • Men’s t-shirts (all sizes)
  • Bath towels
  • Hand towels
  • Washcloths
  • NEW underwear (men/women)
  • Bottled water
  • Individual shaving razors
